Student Film Rabbit Blood

Just an ordinary day at an old mysterious Turkish country house where its residents have an extraordinary way of brewing tea. Rabbit Blood is an animated dark-comedy short film, that I wrote and directed at SVA New York as my MFA thesis project. The story derives from an old Turkish saying to describe a well-brewed tea with a dark red color.

Rabbit Blood had its world premiere at Athens Animfest and screened at over 100 international and local film festivals around the globe. Some of the official selections include the Oscar qualifying New Orleans Film Festival, Montreal Film Festival and In the Palace Intl. Short Film Festival.

Visual Dev.

My intention with the narrative was to set a dark tone, then switch to a fun story as a conclusion while staying historically true. For that, I went for stylized 3D designs with toon shading and hand painted textures. The film was created over the course of 2 years with the help of some other brilliant students from SVA and Academy of Arts.
